Advanced Standing Program for LPNs/LVNs

The Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences utilizes the Ohio Nursing Articulation Model (ONAM) LPN-to-RN Transition Course as the advanced placement mechanism for articulation students.

To apply for admission the applicant must submit the following: 
  • completed application form and application fee ($45.00)
  • official high school transcript and/or general educational development (GED) grade transcripts
  • all official college and post-secondary institution transcripts
  • official transcript of school of practical nursing
  • letter of reference from last employer
  • copy of active, unencumbered, unrestricted license to practice as a LPN/LVN in one US state or territory

In order to be accepted the applicant must:

  • meet the specific admission requirements of the institution/program
  • successfully complete the Ohio Nursing Articulation Model LPN-to-RN transition course
  • have one (1) year clinical work experience within the past three years
  • have completed general education/science courses (by the application deadline) in accordance with the College’s transfer credit policy.  The courses are listed below:
    • Bio 111:  Anatomy & Physiology I with Lab (2 lab hours – 4 semester credit hours)
    • Bio 112:  Anatomy & Physiology II with Lab (2 lab hours – 4 semester credit hours)
    • Bio 121 Microbiology with Lab (2 lab hours – 4 semester credit hours)
    • Eng 101:  English Composition (3 semester credit hours)
    • Com 101:  Speech and Oral Communication (3 semester credit hours)

In addition:

    • Gen 101:  College Success (1 semester credit hour) – this course may be taken with the LPN-to-RN transition course during the summer prior to beginning nursing coursework.

Upon acceptance into the college, all applicants for advanced standing shall have an interview with the Academic Dean,Nursing Education or designee.
