What is the Purpose of General Education at The Christ College?
Through engaging students in the liberal arts and sciences the purpose of general education is to build upon the intellectual, social, and emotional foundation of students by developing a commitment to lifelong learning, increasing their social and global consciousness, and their academic and professional competencies, and building on their understanding of what it means to be a knowledgeable and responsible citizen.
What learning outcomes, specific to general education, have our faculty and administration committed to in order to assess student learning?
Students completing the general education experience will be able to:
Demonstrate a commitment to pursuing additional learning opportunities related to their academic, personal, or professional interests.
Connection to Purpose: developing students' commitment to lifelong learning
Produce academic work demonstrating an increasing understanding of social-political-cultural issues of local, regional, or global significance.
Connection to Purpose: increasing students' social and global consciousness
Demonstrate academic and professional competency in written and oral communication.
Connection to Purpose: expanding students' academic and professional competencies
Demonstrate academic and professional competency within the sciences.
