Make Every Credit Count! - Dual Credit/College Credit Plus, Credit by Examination, and Military Credit

Have you earned college credit while in High School?*

The Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences accepts credits earned through dual credit programs. There are many benefits for high school students to participate in a dual credit program including:

  • Dual credit lets you earn high school and college credits at the same time.
  • Dual credit enables you to get a head start on career planning and learn more about your career interests.
  • Dual credit increases your chances of completing a college degree, may help you complete your degree quicker, or lessen your workload while enrolled in College.
  • Dual credit enhances your ability to a make a smooth transition onto a college campus as you learn the expectations of college level work.
  • Dual credit class often saves money on tuition and textbooks.

There are some important things to consider when taking dual credit courses:

  • The grades you earn in dual credit courses does count towards your grade point average (GPA) and may impact your admission and Financial Aid eligibility at TCCNHS. Dual credit courses and credit hours will be documented on your official TCCNHS transcript; however they will not be calculated in your overall TCCNHS GPA.
  • To have any college credits earned through a dual credit program evaluated for college credit at TCCNHS you must submit an official transcript from the college or university where you earned the credit. Dual credit grades listed on your high school transcript will not suffice as proof of credits earned.
  • Only courses which you earned a “C” or better will transfer in for credit at TCCNHS.
  • Not every course taken through dual credit programs may earn credit at TCCNHS. Only courses that apply towards your area of study or major will be transferred in. See our helpful dual credit guide below of suggested courses to take on to maximize the amount of advance standing credit.

Check out our Dual Credit Transfer Guide to help guide you in planning your dual credit coursework.

Have you taken a standardized test for college credit?

Students can also earn credit for obtaining a score of “3” or better on Advanced Placement tests, or obtaining a predefined equivalent score on a College Level Examination Program (CLEP) test, or a DANTES Subject Standardized Test (DSST). See our Credit by Examination guide if you have taken one of these tests.

Have you earned college credit through the Military?*

Students may earn credits as recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE), as published in “The Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services,” for appropriate equivalent educational experiences provided by the armed forces.

  1. Students who wish to establish credit for military training should submit to the Registration and Records Office a copy of their DD214, Armed Forces of the United States Report of Transfer or Discharge, OR their DD295, Application for the Evaluation of Educational Experiences During Military Services.
  2. Course Completion Certificates may be used to supplement other records or when service schools are not reflected on the DD-214 or 295.
  3. An official AARTS Transcript (Army/ACE Registry Transcript Service) is available to Army enlisted, active duty personnel and veterans who entered the service after October 1, 1981. AARTS transcripts can be ordered here.
  4. An official SMART transcript (Sailor/Marine ACE Registry Transcript) is available to active duty and reserve Sailors and Marines, Navy veterans who separated or retired after January 1975, and Marines who separated or retired on or after January 1990. To receive further information or to order a transcript, visit here.
